History of the hotel:
Palacio Urgoiti is a 17th century palace that was taken down, moved and then carefully rebuilt in 2004-2005 according to its original style. When the construction of the Bilbao – Behovia highway led to the destruction of the Palace and confiscation of the land, Don José María Solano, whose family has always owned this stately home, decided to take it down stone by stone, all of which were carefully numbered. Unfortunately, the hangar where the stones were stored was devastated by terrible floods in 1983 and much of the numbering on the stones was lost. However, after carefully and painstakingly recomposing this gigantic puzzle, the home was reconstructed and converted into what is today Palacio Urgoiti.
